Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Finally Scores In Burnley 0-1 Defeat

Arsenal’s season hit a new low as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang headed in an own goal at the Emirates to condemn Mikel Arteta’s side to a fourth successive home defeat in the Premier League.

It was Arsenal’s seventh loss from 11 games – and it came after Granit Xhaka was sent off for grabbing Ashley Westwood with the scores still level.

Afterwards, Arteta blasted the midfielder’s dismissal as “unacceptable” – saying it was even worse than when Pepe was given his marching orders for headbutting Ezgjan Alioski during the Gunners’ 0-0 defeat at Leeds.

“We know that these things are unacceptable and the moment that we are in now it’s even more so,” Arteta told BBC Radio 5 Live .

“Complete dominance from the start to the moment that Granit Xhaka was sent off.”

Arteta seemed to suggest that Xhaka’s early exit was worse than Pepe’s because Arsenal are now even in an even worse run of form than they were three weeks ago.

“In these conditions even worse,” the manager told Sky Sports .

“The conditions we are in, without winning football matches, you cannot do that.”

Arteta said he was sure Xhaka would apologise for his error, and admitted the midfielder may have overstepped the mark because of Arsenal’s desperation to win the game.
