Pogba has told Manchester United board of his wish to leave

Manchester United Champions League winner Patrice Evra says Paul Pogba has made a transfer request to the board.

Evra was speaking after Pogba scored in victory at West Ham on Saturday.

He told Sky Sports: "The position of Paul is really easy.

"He talked with the board, he wanted to leave United to a certain point, they keep him.

"It's difficult to blame him because he's been honest with the board.

"Now he's playing for United he should respect the shirt, he needs to respect his team-mates, the manager. And he'll have a great chance."

Evra feels some observers are just waiting to criticise Pogba - but says United have to take some responsibility for the ongoing speculation around the midfielder, whose contract expires in 2022.

"I can already feel people just wait for Paul to fail," said Evra. "To again criticise him. But it's been a problem they didn't deal with at the beginning of the season. That's the truth."
