Rio Ferdinand explains Thiago Silva's impact on Chelsea, makes title claim

Chelsea are soaring right now and Lampard has made the team very confident.

Silva's experience has been invaluable as his calming presence is a source of motivation for the team.

Ferdinand expects Chelsea to be fighting till the very end for the title.

“What can I say… Chelsea are on absolute fire, they are flying. Frank Lampard has got his team confident, they go a down goal, it’s no problem, they are confident,” Rio Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel, Five.

“And who is at the base of that? The foundation of that, for me, would have to be the man Thiago Silva. He’s come in, the experience [he’s got], played in big games all around the world.

“I think they go a goal down or things ain’t ticking for them but he sits there at the back, everyone looks to him for inspiration. Listen, Chelsea I think are in it for the long run, they’re going to be there [challenging for titles] at the end.”

The Blues have kept 5 clean sheets in the Premier League so far this season and indeed, Silva's presence has been a blessing for the team as his calmness and composure has helped everyone.

Whether or not Chelsea can mount a serious title challenge, time will tell. However, for now, the signs are positive - 3rd in the table and 17 games unbeaten in all competitions are great things to see!
