Theo Hernandez reveals main reason behind his Real Madrid failure

Theo joined Real from Atletico in 2017.

His only season at the Bernabeu was followed by a loan spell at Sociedad and then a transfer to AC Milan in 2019.

The 23-year-old admits he was too young to succeed at Real Madrid at that time.

“I don’t know if they regret my departure in Madrid. I couldn’t do my best for Real Madrid, as I didn’t have the minutes,” Theo Hernandez said in an interview with Onda Cero.

“Without the minutes, you don’t have confidence. I arrived at a very young age, I have grown up now.”

Real Madrid spent €24m on the Frenchman's move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2017.

After a single season at the Santiago Bernabeu, the left-back was loaned to Real Sociedad and then sold to AC Milan for €20m in 2019. The 23-year-old has established himself among Europe's best players in his position since then.
