AC Milan director Paolo Maldini confirms Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori move

The Chelsea defender is set to join the Serie A leaders on loan and Maldini reveals that they have been following Tomori since the last summer.

He confirms that only the last details need to be arranged.

"We wanted Fikayo Tomori also last summer," AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini told Sky Italia when asked to comment on the expected move for the 23-year-old.

"He's always been one of our targets. He's perfect for our squad - we're working on the last details."

It's been reported that AC Milan have agreed a six-month loan deal for the Chelsea centre-back, with an option to buy him for €30m. Given the current financial situation, Tomori will have to make a massive impression at San Siro to make it happen, but it's not impossible.

Frank Lampard, meanwhile, has insisted that Fikayo has a long-term future at Stamford Bridge but at the current stage of his development, a loan could be the best move.
