Alan Hudson urges Frank Lampard to stop relying on Chelsea youth

The Blues have won just twice in the last 7 Premier League games and Hudson believes that more experienced players should help Lampard to turn it around.

However, it's too early to put such responsibility on youngsters like Billy Gilmour.

"Frank needs help, which I said all along. I don’t think his youngsters are as good as he thinks, and I said that from day one," former Chelsea midfielder Alan Hudson told CaughtOffside.

"To rely on the likes of Billy Gilmour is such a weight to put on his young shoulders, because the expectations since spending all of that money is so sky-high."

Funnily enough, only two players aged 23 or younger started the game against Fulham, with Mason Mount being one of the best players on the pitch. Callum Hudson-Odoi who came off the bench was excellent as well.

In any case, Lampard needs to steady the ship quickly enough to stay in the race at the top of the table - but it's far from certain that more experienced players will help him more than their younger teammates.
