'Barca aren't ready to win many things, we have to be realistic': Koeman

Barca are 10 points adrift of league leaders Atletico while Diego Simeone's men are having a game in hand.

The Catalans will take on PSG on the Champions League last-16 round next month.

Koeman is under no illusion over Barca's chances for silverware this season.

"It's complicated because the gap between (Barcelona and Atletico) is very big," Ronald Koeman told the pre-Athletic presser on Saturday, as quoted by Sport.

"In the Champions League, there's no clear favourite. We have a two-legged tie against Paris Saint-Germain that we will try and get through.

"The team's ambition is to win trophies because we're Barca, but we have to be realistic."

As things stand now, the Catalans are 10 points behind La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid who have a game in hand over Koeman's men.

"Right now Barça aren't (ready) to win many things. We are trying, improving, fighting... We have to be realistic about where we're coming from the changes we've made," the Dutchman continued.

"Not everything depends on one player (signing Eric Garcia). Barcelona always have to be prepared to fight but we have to be realistic."
