Barca players rating in Supercopa defeat with Messi among the lowest-rated player

Here's how our players fared in this painful defeat.

Frenkie de Jong - 8/10

Our midfield engine has established himself as the most consistent player these days. The Dutchman made some truly important tackles and often contributed to Barca's offensive efforts.

More on his performance here.

Antoine Griezmann - 7.5/10

The Frenchman netted 2 goals that almost secured us our first trophy of the year. Besides, Griezmann looked decent in support and even had some defensive contribution.

Ronald Araujo - 7.5/10

Despite some risky mistakes made in the second half, the Uruguayan impressed everyone once again. His main task tonight was trying to steal the ball from Bilbao's main threat - Inaki Williams - and he was doing it perfectly until the extra time.

Ousmane Dembele - 7/10

The Frenchman made some very intelligent moves during the game and was among the main contributors to Barca's opening goal. It's fair to say that nobody could stop him on the wing when the latter was showing tricks and flicks.

Lionel Messi - 4/10

Leo's last-minute foul... What was it? Did he get too emotional?

Anyway, this mistake could cost him a lot because a red card also applies to league competition.

Messi didn't look good throughout the game and he seemingly wasn't fit at all to start. Had a few decent shots, was involved in Barca's scoring actions but that wasn't his best performance at all.

Pedri - 4/10

The 18-year-old was almost invisible during the game. Perhaps it was a wrong decision to start a tired player instead of Riqui Puig who had another great outing against Real Sociedad.

Clement Lenglet - 3/10

Took too many dubious decisions at the back and was partly faultless for all of the goals conceded.

Other players' ratings: Alba 7, Puig 6.5, Busquets 6.5, Dest 6, Pjanic 5.5, Braithwaite 5, Trincao 5, Mingueza 5.
