Barcelona denies involvement in Messi contract leak, ready for legal action

The club insists they are not responsible for leaking Messi's contract, expressing absolute support for their captain.

Barca slams the potential attempt to 'discredit Leo's image' and to damage the relationship between the club and the captain.

"FC Barcelona categorically denies any responsibility for the publication of this document, and will take appropriate legal action against the newspaper El Mundo, for any damage that may be caused as a result of this publication," the club have stated in their official statement on their website.

"FC Barcelona expresses its absolute support for Lionel Messi, especially in the face of any attempt to discredit his image, and to damage his relationship with the entity where he has worked to become the best player in the world and in football history," the message concludes.

As a reminder, El Mundo leaked Leo Messi's entire contract this Sunday. Some of the fans believe Barca could be behind it, trying to force the Argentine out of the club and cover up for Josep Maria Bartomeu's mismanagement.

Earlier, RAC1 claimed Leo Messi will take the matters to the court.
