Barcelona players rating in Elche win with De Jong 9, Umtiti 7.5
Messi's absence was noticeable, but the team made up for it through good collective performance.
Frenkie de Jong — 9
The Dutchman came through with the score-opener for Barcelona and was consistently good throughout the game, helping both defensively and offensively. Frenkie also assisted Riqui Puig's goal late in the second half after a brilliant run.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen — 8
The goalkeeper made a huge save to keep the Catalans in the game while the score was 1-0. Ter Stegen's passing was as good as always, and now he adds another clean sheet to his name.
Ousmane Dembele — 7.5
Dembouz was especially great in the first half, sometimes looking like Barca's only threat in attack. Unfortunately, he didn't end up with a goal contribution, but he definitely added the much-needed creativity, compensating for Leo Messi's absence.
Samuel Umtiti — 7.5
A rare start for 'Big Sam' but a very solid performance. Umtiti did misplace a pass that could've led to a conceded goal but over than that, the Frenchman was impeccable.
Martin Braithwaite — 6
The Dane wasn't at his best vs Elche, maybe because he had to play on the left flank and not at centre-forward. Braithwaite played a big role in Barca opening the score but remained quiet for the rest of the match.
Others: Mingueza — 6.5, Araujo — 7, Alba — 6.5, Pedri — 7.5, Busquets — 7, Griezmann — 6.5, Trincao — 7, Riqui Puig — 7.
