Barcelona pot is almost empty: Ex-Blaugrana Salinas doesn't see Leo at Barca beyond 2020/21

Barca badly need signings that they can't afford, admits Julio Salinas.

Leo's exit from the Catalans would be the best possible scenario for both parties, according to the club's former striker.

"Messi is the best player in the world, but Barcelona clearly need signings and the pot is almost empty," former Barcelona forward Julio Salinas told Betsfy.

"There's not a penny left; they have a serious economic problem and Messi earns almost €100m.

"To win, signings are needed, but it's hard to see them coming in the current circumstances, so it will be Messi himself who decides to leave and begin his final chapter at a club who can offer him definite assurances of being able to challenge for the Champions League."

Messi, whose contract with the Catalans expires in June, will wait until the end of the current campaign to decide whether to extend his current deal.

Apparently, the 33-year-old's future depends on Barca's performances in La Liga and in the Champions League this term.
