Chelsea loaned player Marco van Ginkel set for a comeback at PSV after 2 years of injury hell

The Chelsea midfielder has not played football since May 2018. Now, he's resumed group training with PSV where he is on loan.

Marco is happy that all this recovery nightmare was not in vain.

"The knee is doing well, we are doing well," Marco van Ginkel told ESPN.nl about his upcoming return to the pitch. "For the last two weeks, I have been doing everything with the group again.

"Now that I’m so close again, it’s starting to itch again. In the past two weeks. I have taken steps and now I have to take a step towards the games.

"Eventually, you find out that football is really your thing," he added. "That fire has always kept burning and it will do so for the time being. When you are that close, you know you have not done everything for nothing."

Marco van Ginkel played his last game of football in May 2018. Since then, he has been recovering from a horrific knee injury that sidelined him for over 2 years.

The 28-year-old midfielder signed a one-year contract extension with Chelsea last June before heading out to PSV for his third loan spell there. Regardless of how his football career develops, we can only wish him all the best.
