Chelsea owner Abramovich set to spend big again this month

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is clear to spend big again this month.

Football London says Abramovich has the opportunity to take advantage of UEFA's relaxation of their Financial Fair Play rules this month.

The Blues started on New Year's Eve that they continue "to comply with UEFA's break-even criteria under the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations" when they announced a £32.5m profit.

In ordinary times Chelsea's summer splurge would have led to some issues with FFP, because clubs cannot make a loss of more than £27m across three seasons.

However, UEFA's relaxation of rules means Chelsea are able to spend this month if they so wish.
