David Alaba's father confirms Barcelona still in race for Bayern Munich defender

The Austrian hasn't signed a pre-contract agreement with any other club yet.

"What still counts for David is that he wants to concentrate fully on Bayern and on his performances," David Alaba's father George said in an interview with Sport1 on Tuesday.

"Why Barca are still in the race? Zahavi [Alaba's agent] wants to see whether his friend Laporta is elected president on 24th January."

The thing is that Barca's presidential election has been postponed and is likely to be held only in March.

Earlier this week, Marca claimed that Real Madrid have reached an agreement with the Bayern Munich defender to sign him on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old, however, is yet to make a final decision on his future, according to his dad.

"No decision has been made yet and David hasn't signed with Real either. Besides Real, there are other clubs that are interested in him," George concluded.
