Ex Chelsea manager Avram Grant denies blues approach amid rumours of return

Grant says that he's received a lot of positive messages from Chelsea fans, However, there has been no official approach from the club, the 65-year-old reveals.

Grant feels that everyone at the club, including Lampard, needs time to look for solutions.

"I read the links in the media connecting me about returning for Chelsea, I’ve received so many positive messages from Chelsea fans, thank you," said Avram Grant on his Instagram.

"But I must say, I didn’t receive any official approach from the club. I can repeat only about what I said lately about the situation at Chelsea.

"Be strong, look for solutions and what everybody needs now is time.

"It’s good for Frank that I believe he will do the job well and it’s good for the club. Good luck to everybody."

Sky Sports (among others) reported earlier that the Blues made an approach to re-sign former manager Grant in some capacity as part of the support staff.

However, The Telegraph's Matt Law refuted the claim and Grant has now officially quashed the rumours.

The 65-year-old previously managed Chelsea in 2007-08, leading the club to a Champions League final.
