Fabrizio Romano: Real Madrid in 'pole position' to sign David Alaba

The Austrian is said to be very close to joining the Whites on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Real Madrid are leading the race to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, according to Fabrizio Romano's latest report for The Guardian.

Liverpool have also contacted the player's camp lately and are 'pushing hard' to land the 28-year-old.

The Austrian, however, has long been dreaming about joining Madrid and thus the Whites are in 'pole position' to sign him.

Alaba is set to see his contract with the Bavarians out and move to his next club on a free transfer in the summer.
