Games and competition in which Messi saw his 4 red cards in his career
The Argentine is so special that he only gets sent off in big games, Leo Messi has picked up four red cards in his professional career.
The first one came when the Argentine played for Barcelona B; the team were facing Pena Sport (0-0) and Leo was sent off in the 82nd minute.
Just 3 months later, the 16-year-old got a red card in his debut game for Argentina who played a friendly against Hungary (2-1); Messi spent just 43 seconds on the pitch before being sent off.
Ironically, he also slapped a player that day, just like in the Athletic Bilbao game.

Leo picked up his third red card in the Copa America third-place playoff against Chile (2-1) for a chest-to-chest challenge against Gary Medel – quite a controversial decision made by the referee.
