History: Barcelona lost their last final Messi missed through injury

After missing the Supercup semi-final against Real Sociedad, Leo Messi is at risk of also missing the final against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, January 17.

The last time the Argentine missed a final for Barcelona due to injury was way back in 2006, Marca report, as he was out with a metatarsal injury.

The Catalans then lost 1-0 to Internacional de Porto Alegre in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Since then, Messi has taken part in all of the 27 finals Barca have played.

The 33-year-old has played six finals against Bilbao, recording seven goals and one assist; he registered four wins, one draw and one loss.

According to reports, Leo will train together with the group on Saturday, and his participation in the match will depend on how he feels on the matchday.
