'I know that Messi wants to stay at Barcelona': Laporta

Laporta says that Messi will do everything in his power to stay if the club makes him the right offer.

He believes that the Argentine is getting increasingly happy at the club.

The former president claims that Leo is now only focused on catching up with Atletico and beating PSG.

"I see Leo Messi as getting happier and happier, he's enjoying himself. I know that he wants to stay and I know that he will do everything in his power to stay as long as the club can offer him something that suits him," presidential candidate Joan Laporta has told Diario Sport. "Messi is now totally focused on us catching Atletico in the league and on the Paris Saint-Germain tie in the Champions League."

Messi's contract at Barcelona expires next summer. Laporta has mentioned several times that one of his main priorities if elected president is going to be extending Leo's deal.

Besides, the former president claims that he has a better chance than the remaining candidates to convince the Argentine to stay as they have a good relationship.
