'Inconsistencies don't win you the league': Rio Ferdinand to Manchester United

Rio compares our win over Liverpool to the shock defeat against Sheffield United.

'Inconsistencies of individuals' on the team are holding them back, Ferdinand says.

When asked about Manchester United being inconsistent, Rio Ferdinand told BT Sport: "Last week (against) Liverpool, tremendous performance. (Against) Bottom of the league Sheffield United dour, lifeless at times. The inconsistencies don't win you the league.

"It's what we said about Manchester United for many, many months that the inconsistencies of individuals on this team is what's holding them back.

"Bruno Fernandes, who they've relied on so heavily in recent weeks, months, didn't get it going today. Paul Pogba the same. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were invisible.

"If anybody was starting to get carried away at Old Trafford... it was a reality check."

As a result of the loss, the Red Devils remain second in the standings - a point behind Manchester City and one ahead of third-placed Leicester City.

We face Arsenal next and winning three points should be our priority to keep our chances of winning the Premier League title alive.
