'Koeman believe in youngsters and we have to respond': Barcelona midfielder Pedri

Pedri reveals that he prefers playing in midfield but is ready to cover other positions if needed.

The youngster says he stays after training sessions to work in the gym.

"I prefer to play midfield, but I adapt to what the coach wants. That’s what we should all do so we give Ronald Koeman more options. The coach is showing a lot of confidence in youngsters and we have to respond with good performances," Pedri has said, as quoted by Esports3.

"I’m focused on improving my physique and we’re working on it. After the training sessions, I stay to work with the fitness trainers to improve in this regard."

Koeman does seem to trust the youngsters, with players like Pedri, Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza getting their chances. The Dutchman also played Ansu Fati when the forward was fit.

However, the same isn't true for the likes of Riqui Puig and Carles Alena, with the latter leaving on loan in order to get more playing time.

As for Pedri, he's recorded three goals and four assists in 27 matches for Barcelona so far this season.
