Koeman on Messi chance against Rayo Vallecano

Koeman reveals that Messi is free of the discomfort he had and eager to play.

The coach hasn't yet decided whether the Argentine will play from the start against Rayo.

"Leo Messi had some discomfort, but now he is eager to compete, fresh, without discomfort. To win things we need Messi at his best level," Ronald Koeman said during the press conference ahead of the Rayo Vallecano clash, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

"Will he start tomorrow? Leo really wants to play. He is a winner and he wants to be in all the games. Tomorrow we have a talk and when we get to Madrid, I will reveal the starting team."

Messi was absent for the Supercup semi-final due to a minor injury. He was involved in the final but didn't look his normal self. Since then, he's missed two more matches through suspension.

Rayo Vallecano host Barcelona on Wednesday, January, 27 in Copa del Rey. Kick-off is at 9:00 pm CET.
