'Messi said he could play. He did his best': Koeman react to Messi performance in Supercup defeat

It's not longer news that Barca was defeated in the super cup by Bilbao and Messi was one of the players not to have played to fans expectation after just recovering from injury but Ronald Koeman has jumped his defence saying it's up to Leo Messi to decide whether he's fit or not.

The Dutchman says that Leo felt good and did his best during the game.

"Messi knows when he is fit to play and when not, he has said he could play. He did his best," Ronald Koeman told the media after the 3-2 defeat against Athletic Bilbao.

It's fair to say that Leo Messi wasn't among the best performers on the pitch on Sunday. The Argentine created little upfront and was error-prone at passing.

As a reminder, the Argentine had picked up a minor injury before the game and was doubtful ahead of the matchday.
