Paul Scholes speaks on Van de Beek's best position at Man United

The Dutchman is barely a fringe player at Old Trafford this season and Scholes believes Van de Beek can play as a deep-lying playmaker.

Speaking about Donny van de Beek's best position, Paul Scholes told the Mirror: "I think he's good enough at doing the defensive work. I think he'll be willing to try to do that.

"It won't be the defensive quality he brings to Manchester United, the quality he'll bring is the link-up play between the forward players which is important."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously indicated that he sees Van de Beek as more of a No.10, comparing him to Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata.

The Dutchman has featured in 19 games across all competitions so far this season, although most of his appearances have been from the bench.
