PSG owners confirm FFP rules to be Messi transfer obstacle to Parisians

Even super-reach Qatari owners of the Parisians could be put off by Leo's £500,000-a-week wage demands.

Paris Saint-Germain's Qatari owners have some reservations about signing Lionel Messi due to Financial Fair Play rules, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 33-year-old is out of contract in June and will wait until the end of the season to decide whether to extend his current deal with Barcelona.

Earlier this month, the Parisians' sporting director Leonardo said that 'great players like Leo Messi will always be on PSG's list'.

Leo's £500,000-a-week wage demands, however, 'may prove too expensive' for the Ligue 1 giants how would struggle to comply with FFP regulations with Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on board.

As per Wednesday's report in Catalan newspaper Sport, PSG will make a move for Messi only if Mbappe leaves Parc des Princes in the summer.
