Raul top list of possible coaches to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid

Los Blancos want to continue with the Zidane formula, promoting the Castilla managers to the first team.

Raul Gonzalez, the current coach of Real Madrid Castilla, is the club's sole contender to replace Zinedine Zidane, Mario de la Riva of Diario AS reports.

Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho were the other options but they are currently well-settled at PSG and Tottenham respectively.

If Madrid decide to stick with Raul, they'll continue with their Zidane formula, keeping promoting the Castilla coaches to the first team.

Zidane was the first in 2016, followed by Santiago Salari who spent around 5 months between November 2018 and March 2019.

Raul has been at Castilla since 2019, winning 13 games, losing the other 13 and drawing 10 times.

He also led the U19 side to their first-ever UEFA Youth League win, claiming 4 victories in the knockouts.
