Tottenham boss Mourinho played down rumours of Harry Winks possible departure

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has shut the door on the prospect of losing Harry Winks this month.

Central midfielder Winks played 41 times across all competitions in the last two seasons, but found himself out of favour at the start of this campaign.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Moussa Sissoko and the rejuvenated Tanguy Ndombele have generally been the preferred midfield trio this season.

But Winks has impressed Mourinho with his attitude and performances since asking for more game time prior in December.

The 24-year-old has played in the last three Premier League games for Spurs after missing each of the preceding eight.

Ten-cap international Winks was reported to be LaLiga side Valencia's No.1 target, with ex-Watford boss Javi Gracia keen to bring him to Spain on a short-term loan.

But Mourinho insists there's "no chance" of Winks leaving in January, says the Daily Mail.
