'We knew we needed a win and we put that pressure on ourselves': Chelsea match-winner Mount

Mason Mount says this was a massive game for the Blues and midfielder has praised Chelsea's character in grinding out the 1-0.

Mount won the game with his 78th-minute strike.

"It was a massive game for us, we know the run recently has been tough, we had to look at ourselves," Mount told Sky Sports after the Fulham game.

"It was good to get the win against Morecambe and today was a tough game. We had to wait until late in second half to get the goal, we had to dig deep as a team. We showed good character and got the win.

"We all knew we needed a win, we put that pressure on ourselves. We look at the quality in the changing room, we knew we need to win games.

"It has been difficult last couple of weeks, but we put pressure on ourselves to win against a good team who have been playing well."

Mason Mount's well-taken goal proved to be the deciding factor in handing Lampard's side a narrow 1-0 victory.

Mount was Chelsea's best player on the day and maybe this performance will make some fans stop questioning his inclusion in the games.
