'We need someone else to take spot-kicks if Messi isn't here': Koeman

'We need someone else to take spot-kicks if Messi isn't here': Koeman

The coach is angry that his side has already missed 7 penalties, including the shootout.

He says his team have been practising penalties in the last 2 sessions.

"If we look at the penalties, we've taken 12 this season and missed seven if we include the Supercopa shootout. That's a lot," Ronald Koeman said during the press conference.

"If Lionel Messi isn't there, who is our number one taker, then we need someone else to take them," he added when asked on Barca's chief penalty taker.

"We worked on this yesterday and today. I know taking a penalty in training and during a game isn't the same, but now there is no audience and the pressure is less.

"We can't accept the situation, something must change," the coach concluded.

Barcelona failed to convert 2 penalties against Cornella on Thursday and the game went into extra time.

So far, Leo Messi has scored 5 out of 6 penalties he's attempted.

Editor's note: including shootouts, Barcelona have attempted 17 penalties, not 12. They've missed 7 and scored the other 10.
