Barca players rating in Elche win with Messi 9, Braithwaite 7.5

A good second half saw Barcelona overcome Elche 3-0 on Wednesday night, with Lionel Messi scoring two and Jordi Alba grabbing the other.

Martin Braithwaite was effective in attack too, more so than Trincao who failed to make the most of a great first half chance.

The performances of all the Barcelona players are evaluated below and you can have your say too by upvoting or downvoting.

Leo Messi — 9

The captain got two beautiful goals and a pre-assist to his name in the Elche clash. Although he was rather quiet in the first half, he managed to turn the game around later on. Another MOTM performance for Messi.

Frenkie de Jong — 8

The Dutchman's dribbling is something you can never get enough of, and against Elche, Frenkie pulled off an insane assist after his brilliant run. De Jong was great throughout the game, being useful on both ends of the pitch.

Pedri — 8

The 18-year-old shows us on a daily basis that he can be Barcelona's X factor in midfield thanks to his unexpected decisions. Although he didn't record a goal contribution, Pedri played a huge role in generating our scoring chances.

Martin Braithwaite — 7.5

If we are sincere, Braithwaite was terrible in the first half as he was barely noticeable. After the break though, as Martin moved to the centre-forward position, the Dane improved significantly, registering two great assists. The 29-year-old has proven that he can be a useful asset if used properly.

Miralem Pjanic — 5.5

Despite having a few good moves in the first half, Pjanic was often slow on the ball, and his passing was inaccurate. Barcelona improved noticeably after Miralem was taken off, and that can't be a mere coincidence.

Others: Ter Stegen — 7, Mingueza — 7.5, Pique — 7, Umtiti — 7, Alba — 7.5, Trincao — 7, Dembele — 7, Busquets — 6.5, Griezmann — 5.5, Dest — 6.5, Lenglet — 6.5.
