Barca players rating in Sevilla loss with Umtiti 2, Busquets 4

Sevilla beat Barcelona 2-0 in the first leg of their semi-final clash in the 2020-21 Copa del Rey, leaving the Blaugrana with a mountain to climb in the return leg.

Jules Kounde and Ivan Rakitic scored two amazing goals in either half as the Rojiblancos go to Camp Nou next month with a significant advantage.

Barcelona were visibly fatigued and struggled to create too many openings, with skipper Lionel Messi also frustrated by Bono, who denied him on two occasions with excellent saves.

Here's how our players fared tonight!

Samuel Umtiti — 2

The Frenchman once again ended up costing us both goals. First, he got easily beaten by Jules Kounde, then he tried to create an offside trap only to slip up and leave the Sevilla attackers with a bunch of free space in front of the goal. Plain terrible.

Sergio Busquets — 4

While he can be useful in possession, Busquets is too easily beaten off the dribble, and he is no longer able to keep up with the pace of the more physical teams in La Liga. A few good long balls from Sergio, but disappointing overall.

Frenkie de Jong — 5.5

The Dutchman wasn't our worst player on the pitch, not even close, but considering how good he has been recently, his performance tonight remains unexplainable. He was barely on the ball and only made a handful of runs.

Oscar Mingueza — 6.5

The La Masia graduate was our best defender, and although he had a few blunders, he looked much better than his partners. As expected, Mingueza does much better when played at centre-back and not on the flank.

Leo Messi — 7

As always, the Argentine tried his best, but the defenders did well to isolate him from the rest of the team, and there was little he could do against the two or three men constantly marking him. Besides, he missed a really big chance at the start of the match.

Ousmane Dembele — 7.5

Thanks to his pace and smart movement, Dembouz was the only constant threat in our attack against Sevilla. However, the opponents covered the spaces really well, making it hard for him to take full advantage of his skills.
