Didier Drogba name Carles Puyol in his top 3 of toughest defenders he ever faced

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has included the name of Barcelona legend Carles Puyol in his list of toughest defender he has ever faced.

"I've always said you and Vidic," Didier Drogba told Rio Ferdinand in an interview with BT Sport in 2015 when asked about the top three toughest defenders he ever faced.

"People say I scored a few goals against Manchester United and I would say when I was scoring against Manchester United I was really, really happy because I didn't score much. So for me to score against you guys means that I had a good game.

"So, you two and Carles Puyol because he’s tough, he's a very good defender but he's a gentleman."

Drogba faced Barcelona nine times during his career at Chelsea. Puyol featured in eight of those encounters. Carles was one of the main reasons why the Ivorian's side were victorious against Barca with Puyol on the pitch only twice.
