I still think we did the right job by selling Suarez: Barca manager Koeman

Ronald Koeman admits that it'd be much better to see Luis Suarez playing for Juventus than for Atletico Madrid.

However, the club had to let him go, the Dutchman explains.

"We are changing and of course, it would have been better that Luis Suarez signed for Juventus instead of Atletico Madrid because he's still in the Spanish league," Ronald Koeman has told The Athletic.

"But that kind of decision, we had to make it, really tough ones but showing respect to the player, and I think that's really important. And I still agree with what we did at that time," the Dutchman added.

Back in September, the legendary Uruguayan left Camp Nou for Atletico Madrid for free. Right now, he's La Liga's top goalscorer this season – the 34-year-old has netted 14 goals in the league for his new side.

At the same time, Suarez's exit helped Barcelona increase the wage budget and land Sergino Dest in the summer.
