Ilaix opens up on Fati friendship and growing up at La Masia

Ilaix says that his time at the La Masia dormitory has been the best years of his life.

Despite featuring for the seniors, Moriba stays focused on helping Barca B win promotion.

He claims that at La Masia you have 'no choice but to mature', and much depends on the youngsters' personal attitude.

"I remember my time with Ansu Fati at La Masia. We have grown up here and have a close relationship. The residency has been the best years of my life," Ilaix Moriba has said.

"But my main goal is still to help Barca B win promotion to Segunda Division if we can. We nearly did it last year and it’s a thorn in our side. We are a very young team but we are really up for it and want to show that sometimes age is just a number.

"At La Masia you have no choice but to mature. They help and guide you a lot. But a lot of things depend on you - rigour, constancy, work and everything is taught from a young age.

"Since I was little I have been coming to Camp Nou to watch the team and to now have played in the stadium with these players is just incredible."

Not all players in Barcelona's youth system actually live at the La Masia dormitory, some of them stay with their parents, especially if they live nearby. However, Moriba is among those that are 100% Blaugrana, spending their days from sunrise to sunset at the club.

The 18-year-old has already made two appearances for the seniors this term and managed an assist. Ilaix is expected to get more chances at the first team in the following months.
