Koeman gives update on Araujo, reveals possible return date

Koeman says that Araujo will defenitely miss the Elche match, However, he could be available for the Sevilla match in La Liga or the Copa del Rey return leg.

The Uruguayan has to train with the group first before making a final decision, the coach claims.

"Ronald Araujo getting better. He won't be with us tomorrow because he hasn't trained with us yet. He's training by himself right now with our physios but first, he has to train with the group to see if he's 100 per cent [ready] or not," Ronald Koeman said in the press conference ahead of the Elche game, as quoted by Barcablaugranes.

"Right now there are some doubts, so we have to wait. We wait for the weekend, maybe next Wednesday. I don't think it's good to have an exact date [for his return]."

After the home clash against Elche, Barcelona will face Sevilla twice in a row, first in La Liga (Saturday, February 27) and then in Copa del Rey (Wednesday, March 3).

Araujo picked up an ankle injury in the Real Betis clash two weeks back and has been out since. The 21-year-old has made 20 appearances for Barca this term, scoring one goal.
