Man City not given up on signing Lionel Messi, to use different approach than PSG

Man City are yet to give up on signing Lionel Messi on a free transfer this summer, according to ESPN.

While PSG speak about Leo every now and then, City are set to adopt a 'less aggressive tactic' in their attempts to lure Messi to the Etihad.

The Citizens, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain were keen on the Argentine when he asked Barcelona to let him leave the club last August.

Now, PSG appear to be leading the chase for the 33-year-old as they've been speaking about their interest in Leo for the past few months.

"PSG are making a mistake with the strategy they're using," one source said to ESPN. "Leo doesn't like all that noise in the media and even less the type of comments [which have been made]."

Thus, City are planning to adopt a 'less aggressive tactic' in their attempts to land Messi at the end of the season when his contract with the Catalans expires.

For now, Lionel is focused solely on 'helping Barca end the season strongly' as he'll decide his next career step in June.
