Mason Greenwood hails impact of Edinson Cavani and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Mason Greenwood has hailed the 'amazing' impact Edinson Cavani and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are having on his game at Manchester United.

Solskjaer was a lethal striker in his playing days, scoring 127 goals for United, while veteran Cavani has become the side's primary frontman after an impressive start since joining in October.

Greenwood, 19, is still learning his trade in the game but has impressed for United when given his chance, and the youngster admitted the pair are having a great impact on his development.

'They (Cavani and Solskjaer) were both amazing players and obviously Edi (Cavani) is still playing and is still an amazing player', said Greenwood.

'It’s good to have both of them around in training, as I’ve been watching Edi he’s a top striker, watching his movements, the way he heads the ball, the way he gets into the right positions it’s always a benefit to have a player like that.

'Ole has been my coach it’s good to listen to him and see what he has to say about position and stuff so it’s a positive to have them both there.'

The England international already has 82 senior United appearances to his name, scoring 21 goals and registering 10 assists.

He has shown his to play in several different positions in the forward areas and, while Solskjaer praised Greenwood's versatility, the United manager backed him to nail down his best position in the coming years.

'Mason was a bit shy there because he can play No 10 as well as a shadow striker. He can play right, centre forward, 10 and at a stretch maybe on the left. We just have to give him time to find his final position,' Solskjaer added.

'He’s a forward who moves really well along the line at the moment at his age and at his development physically sometimes you don’t want to be right up in the mix and in the middle with the big brutal centre backs next to you so I think we’ve found that he can play both really.

'That will be in the next year or two if he’s going to be a No 9 or a forward or as I said as a shadow striker, in and around the goal definitely, we need him there even though his link up play and general play has improved a lot.'
