'Today's news can affect him': Koeman reacts to Messi's contract getting leaked

Koeman believes that there are people who want to hurt Barca and Messi and the coach says you have to respect players like Leo, who've done a lot for the club.

The Dutchman reckons that there should be an investigation, and whoever leaked the contract cannot have a future at Camp Nou.

"I've noticed that Leo Messi was very motivated but not more than for other games. Of course, today's news can affect him. You have to respect the important players who have done so much for this club," Ronald Koeman said after the Athletic Bilbao clash.

"Leo is a winner, he always wants to prove his quality. It's important to be united. What has come out in the press about Messi was done with a bad intention.

"We have to try to know how this could have come out in the press. We don't have to focus on this issue, but there are people who want to hurt Barcelona and Leo.

"Messi has been demonstrating his quality as a footballer for years, has helped a lot to make this club great and has helped a lot to win titles. Whoever has leaked Messi's contract cannot have a future at Barca."

As a reminder, El Mundo have published details of Messi's contract at Barcelona. It's believed that the information was leaked by someone who has or used to have access to Leo's contract.
