Zidane is back after overcoming another difficult spell

The injury to Dani Carvajal has cast a shadow over Real Madrid's latest resurgence, but there is no doubt that Los Blancos have turned a corner.

Three consecutive victories and two clean sheets for Thibaut Courtois has seen the club get back to their best, despite the injuries and rumours surrounding Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane experienced one of the lowest moments of his career as Real Madrid coach when minnows Alcoyano knocked the LaLiga Santander champions out of the Copa del Rey back in January, and many thought it could spell the end for Zidane.

But once again Zizou appears to have overcome the bad form that sparked rumours of his exit, and after receiving a phone call from Florentino Perez following the win against Huesca, the coach feels the support of the club once more.

With the return of the old Zidane, the team has gained confidence and serenity, and they have done so with Sergio Ramos in the stands.

Real Madrid are starting to believe again, despite knowing there are tough times ahead, both in LaLiga Santander and the Champions League.

Carvajal's injury is another negative thing that has happened in the last weeks, with Zidane finding it difficult to replace the right-back, who is one of the French coach's most important players.

Despite being five points behind Atletico Madrid after having played two extra matches, it is going to be tough to mount a comeback for the title, but with the dressing room buoyant, the team are confident that if Atletico Madrid slip up they can close the gap.

In terms of the Champions League, Real Madrid could be helped by the possible return of Eden Hazard from injury in March, but they will have to weather the storm against Atalanta in Italy next week. Ramos could also be in contention for a return leg against Atalanta.
