Aguero yet to receive 'formal offer' from Barcelona ahead of uncertain summer

Sergio Aguero has yet to receive a formal offer from Barcelona.

There has been huge speculation in Spain and Argentina that Barcelona are ready to make a move for the Manchester City striker.

City legend Aguero is out of contract at the Etihad this summer and could still be persuaded to stay with a new deal with his future undecided.

But Barcelona are also unclear on their plans despite Joan Laporta being reinstated at the Nou Camp for a second spell as club president.

Aguero, 32, and his representatives have not had a formal offer or proposal from Barcelona who are unlikely to be able to make further plans until Laporta and his team have a better idea on the club’s finances.

Barcelona have been gripped by a financial crisis and already face a huge battle on their hands to try and keep hold of Lionel Messi.

The Spanish giants crashed out of the Champions League this week to Paris Saint Germain and an early exit from Europe will not have helped their finances.

They are second in La Liga, behind Atletico Madrid but ahead of Real Madrid but it has been a difficult season with the Messi saga overshadowing everything.

Laporta will hope that he is able to persuade Messi to stay but the 33-year-old is out of contract this summer.

Reports in Spain suggest Messi will be Laporta’s No1 priority before trying to launch a rebuilding plan at the Nou Camp.

Aguero has found himself frustrated at City this season despite being one of the club’s greatest ever players and also Pep Guardiola looking for a new striker this summer.

Aguero has only had four starts this season in another injury disrupted campaign but City boss Guardiola has made strong noises about wanting to keep the Argentina superstar beyond his current deal.
