Barcelona vs Sevilla predictions for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash at Camp Nou. Barcelona will be looking to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg and see off Sevilla to make the Copa del Rey final. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.

Sevilla hold a 2-0 lead from the first leg but lost against Barcelona in the league on Saturday.

Barcelona have been unbeaten in the league since that first leg but suffered a heavy loss to PSG in the Champions League.

In 44 encounters between these two sides, Sevilla have won just six times.

Barcelona have picked up 29 victories in that time but have only won one of the last three encounters between the sides.

Barcelona to overturn deficit?

Barcelona will need to be at their best on Wednesday evening if they want to make the Copa del Rey final after suffering a 2-0 loss to Sevilla three weeks ago in the first leg of this tie. Since then they have lost heavily to PSG in the Champions League, almost certainly ending their run in that competition but have gone unbeaten in La Liga.

Recent results have seen Barcelona score 2.1 goals per game over their last 10 games but they have looked well below their best in that time, especially defensively with just two clean sheets in those matches. A clean sheet here is vital to their hopes of making to the final of the cup competition but they will need to improve massively.

Sevilla gameplan to stifle?

Sevilla hold an interesting lead following the first leg with 2-0 being significant but leaving them by no means assured of making it through to the final to play Levante or Athletico Bilbao. Their game plan might be to try and stifle Barcelona but that leaves them susceptible to being overrun, especially if Barcelona manage to grab an early goal.

Results since that first leg have been mixed for the visitors with wins over Osasuna and Huesca in La Liga coming before a 2-0 loss to Barcelona at the weekend. They also suffered a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. They have scored and conceded five times in those four matches and will be keen to keep things tighter against Barcelona than they did just a few days ago.

Early goal key for both sides?

This match feels as though a lot rests on the opening 15 minutes with an early goal for Barcelona likely to increase their confidence of getting another and forcing the game into being much more open whilst Sevilla will feel much better if they emerge from the opening stages of the game without conceding.

Ultimately, Barcelona will be attacking as much as possible to try and force their way back into the match and this could leave them open at the back against a Sevilla side that are no slouches. This could lead to plenty of chances for both sides in such a key game.

With that in mind, we’re backing both teams to score in this match. Both sides have averaged well over a goal a game in their recent encounters and that, coupled with some less than excellent defensive records at either end, should lead to a really exciting tie.

Goals could be the order of the day on Wednesday and we’re forecasting a 3-2 victory for Barcelona that won’t quite be enough to see them through to the Copa del Rey final.
