Tuchel has won four of his first 10 games 1-0

Blue day on Merseyside

Chelsea won 1-0 at Liverpool on Thursday night, gaining arguably their best result since Thomas Tuchel took charge. However, that result comes with a bit of an asterisk given the Reds’ home losing streak.

That losing streak includes a defeat to Everton. The Toffees had moved into the top four before Chelsea’s win at Anfield and former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti returns to Stamford Bridge with the Champions League in his sights.

A record-breaking Blues defence

Thomas Tuchel has made a massive impact at Chelsea in a short time. The former PSG coach hasn’t brought the attacking swagger which his previous two teams had, but he’s turned Chelsea into a side who are incredibly hard to break down. They’ve conceded only two goals in Tuchel’s first 10 games.

Tuchel became the first Chelsea boss to oversee four clean sheets in his first four home league games. If the Blues extend that, it would be their best defensive run at home in over six years.

Of course, Tuchel had a great foundation to build upon, with Edouard Mendy’s arrival a turning point for the Chelsea defence. Only Petr Cech has a better return in his first 10 home Premier League games for Chelsea, keeping eight clean sheets to Mendy’s six.

A tricky test for Toffees

Everton are on a good run themselves, but this is a traditionally tough place for them to go. Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 25 Premier League home games against Everton (W14 D11). While this Everton side is stronger than most of those, that just makes this the perfect type of game for Tuchel.

The German has made his mark in big games as Chelsea boss. The victories at Tottenham, Atletico and Liverpool showed this is a man for the big occasion. Under his watch Chelsea have come through a tricky run with six wins to nil in their last nine matches, so a repeat is our first prediction.

Tuchel has already overseen four 1-0 wins so far and he clearly has issues with the attacking options at the Bridge. Everton have conceded just 13 times in 13 away games, so we’re going with a 1-0 correct score prediction.
