De Bruyne admits it will be 'so hard' to win 5 trophies with Man City & Belgium

Kevin de Bruyne's trophy cabinet may need expanding at the end of this year if his ambitions are fulfilled.

The Manchester City playmaker has the chance to win an historic quadruple with his club and lift the European Championship with Belgium.

City are almost certain to win the Premier League, have a Carabao Cup final against Tottenham to look forward to, are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and will take on Borussia Dortmund in the last eight of the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's side have been on formidable form and De Bruyne feels fortunate to have so many opportunities for silverware.

When asked about the prospect of winning five trophies this season, he said: 'That would be nice obviously but it is so hard.

'When you start the season you want to win everything as a player.

'I think it is already a privilege my team and country are in a position to win these things. There are not a lot of players who have the chances to win silverware.

'I am in a privileged position to fight for these trophies and at the end of the season we will see how many I was capable, and the team was capable, of achieving.

'At the moment it is still zero but hopefully there will be a few in the end. The schedule afterwards is very busy with Champions League, semi-finals and finals.

'It gets more and more difficult and the level keeps increasing.'

Belgium are among the favourites to win Euro 2020, which was postponed until this summer.

De Bruyne has switched his attention to his national side after hitting form again for City following an injury lay-off with a hamstring problem.

Belgium take on Wales, the Czech Republic and Belarus in the next week.

De Bruyne added: 'There was less push to get back as soon as possible and I could re-integrate myself in the right way and get myself ready mentally and physically to help the team.

'I think from the moment I came back that is what I have done.'
