I didn't "struggle" to get guarantee after late scramble: Laporta

Barcelona's president-elect, Joan Laporta, finally has the necessary bank guarantee to be installed as the club's new chief officially on Wednesday.

It wasn't easy to obtain said guarantee, with more complications emerging than expected. Early on Wednesday morning, he left the notary offica, on Avinguda Diagonal in the city, and spoke to the press, saying he never feared not getting the €125 million guarantee signed off.

It was nearly 3am in the morning when he did speak and everything had been resolved.

"I didn't struggle to get the guarantee," Laporta said. "We've left the notary late because it's what the occasion deserved."

Videos from the journalists showed Laporta and his team signing the Barça anthem in the office before leaving once the guarantee had been sorted.

The owner of Audax, Jose Elias, also made some brief comments upon leaving: "Laporta will be the president on Wednesday, for sure."

After an intense day full of doubts, Laporta finally obtained the €124.6m bank guarantee. Remember that, in addition to Audax and Sabadell bank, the directors are liable for around €50m of the guarantee. Of the remaining €75m, Audaz put in nearly half with Eduard Romeu, Elias' right-hand man, taking a place on the board.
