Injury scare for Chelsea as N'Golo Kante is ruled out injured

Chelsea were given an injury scare on Wednesday night after N'Golo Kante suffered a minor hamstring injury while on international duty with France.

The midfielder tweaked the muscle in the later stages of Les Bleus' 1-1 draw with Ukraine at the Stade de France.

Subsequently, Kante has been ruled out of France's next two World Cup qualifiers due to injury and sent back to Stamford Bridge.

France confirmed the status of Kante's injury, claiming scans showed a 'small lesion' in the muscle.

Following the 'clinical and radiological examinations', Kante was sent home to undergo treatment at Chelsea.

The official statement on the French Football Federation website read:  'N'Golo Kante will not take part in the next two matches of the French team on Sunday in Kazakhstan and three days later in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

'The Chelsea midfielder felt a pain in the hamstrings of the left thigh at the very end of the match against Ukraine on Wednesday at the Stade de France. He had clinical and radiological examinations on Thursday, which revealed a small lesion.

'In consultation with Doctor Franck Le Gall, national coach Didier Deschamps has decided to put N'Golo Kante back at the disposal of his club tomorrow.

'N'Golo Kante will not be replaced. It is therefore a group of twenty-five players who will fly to Kazakhstan tomorrow morning.'

Not only will Kante miss France's upcoming Group D matches against Kazakhstan and Bosnia, he could be ruled out of action for Chelsea.

Such news will leave Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel sweating as the Blues head into a crucial run of domestic and European fixtures.

Chelsea are due to be back in action when the Premier League resumes again on April 3.

They are also to take on Porto just four days later in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
