Millwall have won the last three meetings between the sides including a 0-2 victory at Deepdale earlier this season.

The Lions have won two of their last three home games and have lost just one of their last eight outings at The Den (W2, D5).

Preston have lost six of their last nine starts on the road including a 4-0 pummelling against Cardiff City last week.

Preston’s away woes to worsen at The Den

It’s been a tough few days for Millwall, but the Lions can breathe new life into their quest for a top six finish with a win over travel sick Preston on Tuesday.

Gary Rowett’s men were seemingly making serene progress up the table after a run of three consecutive wins earlier this month, however, their progress has been stunted over the last seven days or so following draws against Wycombe and Luton and a defeat a 2-1 defeat at Barnsley on Saturday.

The Lions quite simply ran into an inspired Tykes side at the weekend who have accrued a lengthy winning run and they should find this midweek clash less testing against a Preston outfit who have lost six of their last nine starts on the road.

The Lilywhites go into this contest on the back of a comfortable 3-0 home success against Huddersfield Town, though their opponents at the weekend have been extremely poor of late and we’re more inclined to focus on Preston’s problems outside of Deepdale when assessing this fixture.

Millwall have also won two of their last three here and have lost just one of their last eight outings at The Den, so overall the Lions catch the eye at a shade over evens and we’re predicting a 2-1 triumph for Rowett’s side, which will keep their outside hopes of a play-off place alive.
