No break for Barcelona in the international break

With Barcelona in such fine form, some may say that the international break comes at an unfortunate time for the Catalan giants, but there may be some positives for the club.

There will be an unexpected break for Lionel Messi and Barcelona's players that hail from South America ahead of the business end of the season, as CONMEBOL have decided to suspend the World Cup qualifiers on the continent due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Players returning from injury

Ronald Koeman will also hope that the two-week break will enable him to welcome back some players from injury. The likes of Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto are expected to be back this week and should be ready to play Real Valladolid in a fortnight's time.

Ronald Araujo will also be able to consolidate his return from injury after coming on as a substitute against Real Sociedad last weekend.

Koeman will also have some time to prepare his team for the run-up to the end of the season as well as planning for the next.

Barcelona's summer plans

Koeman will look to meet with president Joan Laporta to discuss the club's plans ahead of the summer.

There will likely be a discussion about Koeman's future as well, with the Dutchman set to carry on in his role next season. His contract comes to an end in 2022.
