Real Madrid in a surprise move for Manchester City starlet Liam Delap

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Manchester City starlet Liam Delap with the striker having impressed Spanish scouts with his performances this season.

The 18-year-old has scored 20 goals in 15 games in Premier League 2 and has also made three first-team appearances, netting on his debut against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup while he was still 17.

According to the Daily Star, Real have made contact with his representatives and are keeping close tabs on the youngster.

Delap, who is the son of former Stoke City player Rory, is under contract at City until 2023.

The striker is highly regarded by the Premier League side with Pep Guardiola including him in first-team training for much of the season.

The City boss praised the forward's finishing after his debut goal in September.

'He's a different striker to what we have in terms of physicality,' said Guardiola.

'We see in training how good a finisher he is. Now he has to be calm and keep working.

'We are delighted with his performance - he played really well.'

Delap's goalscoring form has earned him comparisons to Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, who is wanted by both City and Real.

City announced that Sergio Aguero will leave the club at the end of the campaign which could see Delap get more opportunities next season.

However, a move for Haaland could complicate Delap's route to the first-team.

Youngsters like Brahim Diaz and Jadon Sancho have left City in the past with Diaz joining Real while Sancho moved to Dortmund.
