Solskjaer has revealed why he left Amad Diallo on the bench in Palace draw

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed why he left Amad Diallo on the bench in Wednesday night’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils lost to Roy Hodgson’s side earlier in the season and, though they avoided a repeat of what 3-1 defeat, it wasn’t good enough.

Solskjaer appeared hesitant to roll the dice as the match entered the closing stages, leaving young duo Amad and Shola Shoretire on the bench.

And, speaking after the game, the 48-year-old Norwegian opened up on that decision by saying: “We had Marcus out there, Mason out there, Bruno out there, Scotty came on to give us a goal thrust and he almost had a chance straightaway.

“We put Dan on for some pace and with those out there that’s most of our goals that we had.

“Of course we had Shola or Amad, but which one of them would you take off of those five?

“So that was my quandary in the last 10-15 minutes, but I felt Mason, Bruno, Marcus, that they could get a cold get a goal.

“Scotty and Dan actually had a chance each when they came on.”
