Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela targeted by Serie A side Bologna

Bologna have confirmed that Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela is high on their list of summer transfer targets.

The 29-year-old Argentina international is in the final 18 months of his Tottenham contract and the Serie A side are keen to bring him back to Italy, where he previously spent two years at Roma.

And Bologna director Walter Sabatini has boldly named the Tottenham man as a player of interest, especially with ongoing links between their key man Riccardo Orsolini and AC Milan.

'Lamela is one of the names we are looking into,' said Sabatini, as per the Evening Standard. 'We are trying to understand if there are possibilities to get there and there is no guarantee.

'Of course, should Orsolini leave, there would be no better substitute. We will see.'

Lamela has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four times including his sumptuous strike in the recent north London derby.

But that game showed the frustrating side of Lamela as well. After putting Tottenham ahead with a fabulous rabona, he was later sent off as his fell to a 2-1 defeat by their fierce rivals.

Lamela joined Tottenham from Roma in 2013 in a deal worth around £25million but if he left this summer, the London side would recruit a far smaller fee with only a year left on his deal.

Orsolini, meanwhile, has caught the eye for Bologna this season with seven goals in 27 games but with his side 11th in the Serie A standings, is widely expected to move on in the summer.

The 24-year-old Orsolini has also scored two goals in his first two appearances for the Italian national side.
